Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. They campaign for change, fund research to find a cure and support people living with dementia today. Their wide range of support services ensures nobody should have to face dementia alone, including Dementia Connect which transforms the support people receive and provides the right support in the best way for each individual. This combines face-to-face support with telephone and online advice and information offered by specially trained Dementia Advisers. Their comprehensive directory allows you to find advice and information support services local to you.

Premier guide to UK charities

The Housing Care site is run by the charity Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC). It provides comprehensive, impartial information to help people make plans for later life, including specialist directories and information on nursing homes and residential care homes, as well as sheltered housing, extra care housing and retirement villages, across the UK. It also provides over 2,000 sales and lettings vacancies every week.

Independent Age can provide clear, free and impartial advice on a large variety of issues, including care and support, money and benefits, health and mobility.

The Older Peoples Advocacy Alliance (OPAAL) believes that there are specific circumstances where all individuals must have a right to the support of an independent advocate to ensure that their own interests and preferences are acknowledged and addressed. TeleCareline is a 24 hour service that provides and monitors a range of equipment and sensors. These can be worn, or put in a person’s home to help them remain independent. When alarms go off, support is provided, which can be from a neighbour or friend, a service organised by TeleCareline or the emergency services.
